Kohlrabi, Lauch, Karotten, Mangold und Sellerie sind zweijährig. D.h. sie produzieren erst im 2. Ackerjahr Samen. Da die Parzellen jedes Jahr neu verlost werden und wir sie am Saisonende abgeräumt hinterlassen müssen, ist es nicht möglich, Samen zu produzieren. Deshalb buddle ich heute einen roten und einen weissen Kohlrabi aus, die ich extra für's überwintern nicht erntete. Zuhause werde ich versuchen, sie im Blumentopf zu überwintern, denn es heisst: "Probieren ist besser als studieren".

Kohlrabi, leeks, carrots, chard, and celery are biennial. This means they only produce seeds in their second year of cultivation. Since the plots are allocated every year new and we have to leave them cleared at the end of the season, it is not possible to produce seeds. So today I'm digging up a red and a white kohlrabi that I left unharvested for the winter. At home, I'll try to overwinter them in a flowerpot, because, as the saying goes, "try is better than study."
